The K-1 count is the only number a government publishes that touches this topic, and it counts every fiancée visa, whoever introduced the couple. 47,579 in fiscal 2024 against 35,881 in 2019 and 16,849 in the pandemic year. Nobody flags which of them met on a platform. The only bridge is a 1998 ratio: the INS put matchmaking marriages at 4,000 to 6,000 out of 12,306 fiancée admissions, a third to a half, and an advocacy group later applied that fraction to newer years to get 11,000 to 16,500. Every per-year figure you'll read is that ratio, not a count.

The Philippines alone took 10,228 of 47,579 K-1 visas, about 21.5% by our arithmetic, and Asia as a region 21,026. Then Mexico 4,180, Vietnam 2,208, the Dominican Republic 1,969, Colombia 1,863, Thailand 1,201. Britain sits in the top ten at 1,172, a reminder that a K-1 is a fiancée visa, not a bride visa. Russia is at 479 and Ukraine at 60: Eastern Europe, the region most of the search traffic asks about, is a rounding error in the visa data.

K-1 visas to Ukrainians went 860, 474, 131, 60 across fiscal 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and the February 2026 monthly file shows 4, with 21 spouse visas the same month. The Kyiv post issued 2,068 immigrant visas in fiscal 2022, none in 2023 and 220 in 2024; Ukrainian applicants interview in Warsaw. Inside Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice counted 165,587 marriages and 124,785 divorces in 2025, divorces including court cases, against 214,013 marriages in 2021. The viral claim that 87% of women who fled filed for divorce has no source and was traced to nothing.

The 80% comes from a 1996 questionnaire to the agencies themselves, written up by Robert Scholes in 1997 and reprinted in the 1999 INS report, with no sample size and no follow-up period; the report's own words are that the marriages would appear to last, based largely on data provided by the agencies. We read the paper behind the other one. The 35.8% to 41.3% sits in a single sentence of a 2012 student paper on cultural psychology, which credits a 2008 print report by Statistics Solutions, a firm that sells research help; the paper gives no sample size, does not study divorce itself, and takes its 48% American comparison from the same report. The Bernard College research on copycat pages is that one sentence relabelled. The CDC publishes no percentage of marriages ending in divorce for anyone, only 2.4 divorces per 1,000 people in 2023 against 6.1 marriages.
